A little about Brad...

Along with being a firefighter for almost ten years, Brad was an avid skier, a ski instructor, loved many sports, and enjoyed playing golf. He skied and golfed at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. He also loved playing golf at the PGA in Florida when he visited his parents in the winter months.

He was a passionate sports fan of multiple sports, too many to list, but especially his beloved Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. He enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, trying new foods and exploring new cultures. In 2015, he traveled alone extensively throughout southeast Asia and Europe for more than three months.

Brad was his own person. He had strong principles and opinions and lived his life on his terms. Brad positively touched so many lives in so short a time. His curiosity about the world, his intolerance for bullshit, and his willingness to always stick up for the underdog is why he had so many friends across all ages.

After being diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, Dyskeratosis Congenita, Brad’s medical team tried several experimental medications to fight this disease and increase his quality of life. On November 8, 2019, at just 33 years old, Brad passed away due to complications from DC. To continue to battle against this horrible disease, Brad’s DNA is currently being used in research to find a medication to help other DC patients. Brad is Patient No. 2 in this study and his DNA has contributed so much so that doctors from around the world are talking about him. We have been told that because of Brad's contribution to science/research there most likely will be a medicine in the very near future that will help his brother Garrett! Brad and Garrett are 2 of 5 patients in the world with the PARN mutation for DC.
